Styliani Papamichail,
B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.
Stella holds a degree in Sociology from Panteion University, with a postgraduate specialization in Criminology and a PhD from the Department of Sociology of Panteion University.
Her teaching work in Higher Education Institutions starts in 2008 from the Department of Social Work of the TEI of Patras where she continued until 2012, then in the Department of Sociology of Panteion University (2010) and in the Department of Social Work of the TEI of Athens (2013-2018). From 2018 onwards, Stella is an academic fellow of the Department of Social Work of the University of West Attica, with research and teaching work. Specifically, she taught / teaches the courses "General Sociology", "Methodology for Writing a Scientific Study", "Sociology of Divergence" and "Sociology of the Family".
Her work in research field includes her participation in research teams of the Department of Criminology of Panteion University, of the General Secretariat of Anti-Crime Policy of the Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights, the Center for Research on Equality Issues (KETHI) and the Center for Security Studies (KE.ME. A.) of the Ministry of Public Order.
The objects of cooperation concern the sociological and criminological research, the social and professional reintegration of populations such as young offenders and ex-prisoners, the prevention and treatment of gender-based violence.
Professionally, Stella has previously held management positions (Director of a lifelong learning center) related to the design, implementation and evaluation of lifelong learning programs aimed at vulnerable groups of the population, while she has been a coordinator, expert - evaluator and researcher at national projects and Community initiatives co-financed by the European Union. She is certified by EOPPEP as an educator of adult trainers.
In 2003, Stella represented our country as a special expert on domestic violence issues, at the three-day meeting of Experts from the EU member states, within the framework of the Greek Presidency of the European Union. On 7/19/2017, in her capacity as an expert, she participated in the Special Standing Committee on the Penitentiary System and other incarceration structures of prisoners of the Greek Parliament, with the topic of the agenda: Professional reintegration of released prisoners.
She has published texts in collective volumes on domestic violence against women and children, as well as other crimes involving women. In 2018, she co-edited the honorary volume for the Emeritus Professor of Criminology A. Magganas on "Modern trends in anti-crime policy" by Papazisis publications.
From 1998 until today Stella has published numerous articles in international and Greek scientific journals of recognized prestige with reviewers.
She is the author of a scientific book on domestic violence (2005, published by Ant. Sakkoulas).
