Kleopatra Karnaki,
B.A., Pg.Dip., M.Ed.

Cleopatra after obtaining a basic degree in Psychology B.A. at the American College of Greece (Deree College) continued her postgraduate studies at Lesley University in Boston where she received a Master of Education M.Ed in Special Education. From then until today, she designs and implements personalized educational programs for students with learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, behavioral problems and mental deprivation. As a special educator, she also worked at the American Community Schools of Athens with high school and lyceum students, who were experiencing learning difficulties.

She has specialised in the Person-Centered Approach and as a counsellor Cleopatra worked at the kindergarten and voluntarily at the Craniofacial Center of Athens where she offered emotional support to children and adults with craniofacial disorders.

For a number of years she was a lecturer of the Adult Training Program of the Hellenic American Educational Institution (Athens College) on topics related to parent-child relationships. For the last sixteen years, she coordinates and participates in seminars, lectures and parent groups in collaboration with the Municipalities of Attica.

Her research interests focuses on the development of self-esteem as one of the most crucial factors in personality development. She also studies the effectiveness of the application of the person-centered model in Greece to children with learning difficulties through the creation of a therapeutic relationship in combination with child-centered play therapy (child-centered play therapy) a topic presented at a conference in 2001.
