Nikoletta Theodorou,
B.A., Pg. Dip., MA., Ph.D.

Nikoletta is a social researcher, person-centred counsellor and lecturer with a considerable work experience in a number of settings both in Greece and UK. 
 
She lived in UK for seven years where she gained her Pg. Diploma in Counselling at Strathclyde University and her Master’s in Counselling Children and Young People at the University of Nottingham. During those years she worked as a Person Centred counsellor and researcher in the Counselling Research Clinic at Strathclyde University and in youth services in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
 
In 2016, Nikoletta was awarded a full scholarship by the Economic and Social Research Council in UK to pursue her PhD studies in the University of Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh. In 2019/20 she gained her PhD in the field of social exclusion, poverty and equality. Her thesis ‘Multiple Exclusion Homelessness, attachment and relationship with care: A missing link?’ was exploring the relating patterns of homeless individuals when engaging with support services in order to improve current service responses & policies. During her PhD studies she was also employed as a part-time consultant for the Centre of Homelessness Impact in Europe and later as a social researcher for Unicef Migrant and Refugee Response in Greece. 
 
Her research interests focus on issues of social exclusion, early life trauma and attachment theory. Nikoletta is also interested in right-based interventions rooted in a person-centred philosophy.
