Academic Staff

Vasiliki Asiki
B.Α., M.Α.

Vicky was born and raised in Athens. Upon completion of her studies in English Language and Literature at the University of Thessaloniki, she sought a Postgraduate title from the University of Exeter, seeking further specialization in the field that most fascinated her –History of South America and Literary Expression of the African American Community.
She started working as an English teacher since her student years and for more than 25 years now has been working professionally in the area of private post-secondary and higher education teaching English for special and academic purposes. Vicky also teaches English as a foreign language to students of all levels and prepares them for language proficiency exams. The field of translation is another area of interest. After completing her translation studies and obtaining a Diploma in Translation from the British Council in Athens, she has worked extensively on translating medical and financial texts for companies, individuals and professionals.
She is actively applying a more person-centered approach to the process of teaching a foreign language because she believes that the most important achievement for a teacher is to create a functional and friendly learning environment. This can only be achieved if a non-critical relationship of mutual trust with students is developed, in terms of acceptance, understanding, continuous encouragement and rewards. She is a member of TESOL Greece and continuously monitors its activities.
