Welcome to the website of the unique postgraduate programme M.Sc. in Psychosexual Therapy in Greece!

The programme is offered at ICPS College in collaboration with the state University of Central Lancashire and is one of the few postgraduate programmes in Psychosexual Therapy in England and the only in this specialty in Greece! The Master has already received an "Intermediate Approval" from the UK's Certified Body for programmes and Psychosexual Health Therapists, "College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists" and is the only Masters in England to have this recognition/certification.

Psychosexual Therapy is one of the newest and fastest evolving therapies worldwide. A large number of professionals, including psychologists, doctors, nurses, social workers, and specialists in related fields, are keenly interested in this specialization. The World Health Organization (WHO, 2002) defines sexual health as "a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality". Psychosexual disorders, therefore, often prevent the person from having a balanced sex life, due to various causes.

The Master in Psychosexual Therapy is specifically designed to develop the skills required to apply the principles and knowledge of psychology to environments related to sexual health, sexual disorders, and interpersonal relationships. During their studies, students will get to know the principles of psychosexual therapy and their application in a practical therapeutic environment.

Inter alia, it covers:

  • The theory and findings that govern the application of the psycho-biomedical model to Psychosexual Therapy
  • Topics of anatomy, physiology, pathology and treatment of sexual function/ dysfunction
  • Feminine and Masculine sexual anatomy, which is related to the cycle of the sexual reaction
  • Methodological and therapeutic approaches to interpersonal relationships with emphasis on the role of the Cognitive-Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Systemic, and Person-Centered approach
  • Clinical Interventions for the treatment of psychosexual disorders
  • Critical Evaluation of theories and findings
  • Therapeutic protocols applied to people with criminal sexual conduct aiming to support them
  • Applied Skills of a Mental Health Professional dealing with psychosexual disorders
  • Ethical and other professional issues


Moreover, important characteristics of the programme are:

  • Postgraduate programme with international recognition from the 5th largest University of England
  • Recognition in Greece, based on the provisions of Union Law, on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications as defined by law
  • An applied programme with hands-on training and observation sessions at the ICPS Specialized One-Way Mirror Psychotherapy Laboratory.
  • Interdisciplinary team of trainers (psychologists, psychosexologists, psychiatrists, gynecologists and other doctors, criminologists specializing in sex crimes, etc.) with extensive experience in psychosexology and its application.
  • Flexible programme offered in full-time or part-time basis to be combined with other obligations


Entry Requirements


  • University degree, preferably in Psychology or a similar field (eg medical, nursing, social worker, sociologist etc).
  • Applicants who have completed a counselling/psychotherapy programmes will be preferred
  • Successful completion of the selection process (interview and psychometric evaluation).
  • English language comprehension of IELTS 6.5, or equivalent level. Those who have completed their graduate studies in English language are exempted
  • Applicants who have completed a graduate research thesis will be preferred
  • Two years of working experience are desirable, but not necessary
  • Very good knowledge (at first degree level) of Research & Methodology using SPSS. (Candidate who does not cover the criteria can attend a special intensive programme at ICPS)


COurse Structure

The program consists of three parts. The first one includes specialized courses/lectures, seminars and labs in the field of Psychosexual Therapy. The second part includes placement as well as the process of personal development, while the third part consists of research training and the implementation of a research thesis.

The subjects of postgraduate programme, inter alia, include:

  • International perspectives and cultural differences in the understanding of psychological sexual dysfunctions
  • Association of male and female anatomy and physiology with psychosexual disorders
  • Neuropsychological evaluation and structured clinical interview
  • Development of counselling and psychotherapeutic skills in psychosexual therapy
  • Differential diagnosis and psychotherapeutic approaches: Cognitive-Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Systemic and Person-Centred approach
  • Specific topics such as: Gender Identity Disorders and Gender Discomfort, Alcoholism and Sexual Pathology, Mental Illness and Sexual Dysfunction, Medication and Sexual Impotence etc.
  • Criminology and sexual behavior: child sexual abuse, adult abuse/aggression, legislation and sexuality, etc.
  • Marital life and dysfunctions, extramarital affairs and their challenges to sexual health, sexuality and old age, sexual problems in people with disabilities
  • Intersexual conditions, homosexuality, polygamy, swinging, BDSM, LGTOQIA etc. 
  • Sexual education and occupational and ethical issues in psychosexuality - especially in relation to different contexts and differentiated groups and needs
  • Work and goal achievement in interdisciplinary team
  • Personal development, self-evaluation and supervision as professional tools


Academic Assessment:

Academic evaluation in this postgraduate programme includes a variety of methods: assignments, presentations, exams, self-assessment and personal development reports, role play, etc.
