DOATAP: Clarification of its Role

Following several reports regarding unintentional misinformation of the public by D.O.A.T.A.P., we would like to inform those interested in studying Psychology at Colleges, that D.O.A.T.A.P. is unsuitable for the recognition of professional qualifications of legally regulated professions in Greece.

D.O.A.T.A.P. is pertinent for the ACADEMIC RECOGNISION and not for the PFOFESSIONAL RECOGNITION.

After a letter was sent to DOATAP by a College in our country, DOATAP posted the following announcement on its website on 13/9/2012.

The statement is as follows:

‘’The institutions which are responsible for the recognition of professional qualifications to pursue a legally regulated profession are the following:
(a) the Council for the Recognition of Professional Qualifications (through the Department “D” for the Recognition of Professional Qualifications of the European Union General Directorate for European and International Training Affairs of the Ministry of Education and Religious Education, Culture and Sport),
(b) the Regions for Medical Doctors, Dentists, Pharmacists, Nurses, Midwives
(c) the Technical Chamber of Greece for Architects and
(d) the Standing Committee of the Article 4, PD 122 (FEK 200/A/30-11-2010) which is based in Athens and works at the Office of the Athens Association (DSA) for lawyers.

It should be emphasized that DOATAP is the pertinent institution for the academic recognition of all higher education titles coming from all foreign countries’’.

Furthermore, it is clarified that in order to obtain the license to practice psychology from the Greek state, it is by NO means necessary to register in any associations of psychologists that exist in Greece.
The professional license is issued by the Department of Health of the local Regions following the submission of the relevant documents (diploma degree, certificate from the Medical Committee and the act deed of professional recognition of the degree diploma).
